  • Have completed their PhD in 2021 or later for this call
  • Apply as an individual, not as a group or team

  • Dialogues between cultural and social sciences

Applicants may propose to finish a book or special issue, finalize a research proposal, establish a research group or develop collaboration with Ruhr Alliance universities.

The programme does not accept applications from groups or teams. Applicants outside the stated postdoctoral window may be ineligible unless an eligible career break is explained and accepted.

KWI will not consider applications that are incomplete, late, submitted in multiple files, delivered through external-platform links or contain a project proposal exceeding 5,000 characters.

What Makes a Competitive Application?

The proposal should clearly connect the planned project with KWI’s programme and state what will be achieved during the six-month residence.

Fellows are expected to attend the KWI Colloquium, lectures, conferences, reading groups and other events, contribute to the KWI Blog, complete entry and exit interviews and mention KWI in publications resulting from the fellowship. Teaching is not required.
