What Schloss Wiepersdorf Offers?

  • Residency: Three-month residency periods from March to May, June to August, or September to November. (Science applicants may request shorter periods.)
  • Financial Support:
    • Monthly stipend of €1200.
    • One-time material grant of €480 (prorated for shorter stays).
    • Room and board provided.
    • Studio space (subject to availability) for Fine Arts fellows.
    • Visa cost coverage for international fellows.
  • Environment: A low-barrier accessible castle and park, with a barrier-free apartment available.
  • Community: Opportunities to engage in events and presentations at Schloss Wiepersdorf.

Who Can Apply?

Artists and writers from Germany and abroad working in the following fields:

  • Literature (poetry, prose, drama, essays, screenplays, criticism, translation)
  • Science/Romanticism (academic writing and research on Romanticism)
  • Science/Topics focusing on the previously divided Germany (academic writing and research on East/West German history)
  • Fine Arts (painting, graphics, sculpture, media arts, photography)
  • Composition (sound design, installation, performance, conducting)

Eligibility Requirements

  • Completed artistic or academic studies, doctoral work, or demonstrated professional achievement through publications or extensive work samples.
  • Proficiency in German or English. Basic German skills are recommended.
  • High quality of previous artistic or academic work and a compelling project proposal.
  • Excludes current students (except doctoral, post-doctoral, and master-class students), previous Schloss Wiepersdorf fellows from the last two years, and jury members.

Fellowship Types

  • Individual Fellowships: For artists and writers working independently.
  • Collaborative Fellowships: For teams of artists and writers working together. Includes two rooms, allowing for one guest for the full three months or two guests for partial periods.
