TAFSA Degree-Seeking Mobility Scholarships 2025 for Students

The Intra-Africa Mobility to Train Agribusiness and Food System Scientists for African Agriculture (TAFSA) program, funded by the European Union, is now accepting applications for its sixth cohort. This initiative, supported by five African universities, aims to foster collaboration, skill development, and research excellence among African institutions while addressing pressing issues related to food security, malnutrition, poverty, and unemployment in Africa.

About the TAFSA Program:

TAFSA is run by Eduardo Mondlane University (Mozambique), Gulu University (Uganda), Makerere University (Uganda), University of Abomey-Calavi (Benin), and the University of Pretoria (South Africa). The program offers 56 total fellowships (37 Master’s and 19 PhD), including degree-seeking and short-term mobility opportunities. The program focuses on areas such as agribusiness, consumer science, food security, nutrition, agricultural economics, and agricultural policy.

Who Can Apply?

1# Target Group I (TG-I): Open to students and staff from participating institutions in Benin, Mozambique, Uganda, and South Africa. Applicants must be former students of a participating university.

2# Target Group II (TG-II): Open to students from other African countries, with priority given to those from disadvantaged or conflict-affected countries (e.g., Burundi, Cameroon, Liberia, Mali, Sierra Leone).

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree of at least a second-class or equivalent.
  • Applications must be to a host institution outside of the applicant’s home country.
  • Female applicants and individuals with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
