Internship Details

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible, you must:

• Have a minimum GPA of 3.2
• Be able to obtain a Public Trust, Secret, or Top Secret clearance
• Be an undergraduate (junior or senior) or graduate student enrolled in an accredited college or university
• Plan to return to school immediately after the internship
• Attach an official or unofficial transcript to your application

Compensation and Benefits

Interns receive a GS-04/Step 1 base pay and are considered temporary employees of the U.S. Department of State. The program covers reasonable travel expenses and assists with housing. Note that the internship is not creditable for retirement benefits unless you secure a federal career position afterward.

Internship Assignments
