Summer Vacation Bioscience Research Scholarships 2025 at University of East Angalia

The University of East Anglia (UEA), in partnership with the Wellcome Trust and the UKRI-BBSRC Norwich Research Park Biosciences Doctoral Training Partnership (NRPDTP), is offering up to 16 fully paid summer research projects for undergraduate students in 2025. This exciting initiative is designed to give students hands-on research experience, deepen their interest in bioscience and biomedical science, and encourage a future in postgraduate studies.

Program Overview

Students selected for the Summer Vacation Bioscience Research Scholarships 2025 will participate in 6–8 week-long research projects in bioscience or biomedical fields. Projects are designed to be interdisciplinary, connecting students with researchers across UEA’s Faculty of Science, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, and the Norwich Research Park.

• Start Dates: As early as mid-June 2025
• End Date: Must be completed by Friday, 22 August 2025
• Stipend: Paid research experience
• Number of Projects: Up to 16 opportunities available.

Projects will be matched based on relevance to students’ academic backgrounds and interests, and no interviews are required for selection.

Eligibility Criteria

You are eligible to apply if you:

• Are currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in the UK or Republic of Ireland
• Are in your penultimate or middle year (Year 2 of 3, or Year 2/3 of a 4-year course)
• Are studying a relevant subject, such as:
  • Biosciences
  • Biochemistry
  • Biomedical Sciences
  • Natural Sciences
  • Computing
  • Physical Sciences
  • Medicine
  • Dentistry
  • Veterinary Medicine
  • Engineering
  • Mathematics
  • Psychology.

You are not eligible if you:

• Are in your first year or foundation year
• Are enrolled in a university outside the UK or Republic of Ireland
• Have completed an intercalated year or a year-long research placement
• Are a graduate-entry medical student who already holds a science degree
• Have received a previous research scholarship (e.g., from Wellcome Trust or similar funders)
