The Enrico Fermi Fellowships (EFF) are back with a new opportunity for talented early-career researchers across the globe. Applications for the 2nd Cohort of the EFF Program, hosted by the Center for SpaceTime and the Quantum (CSTQ), are officially open!
This prestigious international fellowship—named after the legendary physicist Enrico Fermi—is designed to support PhD students whose research spans both theoretical and experimental science, particularly in areas dealing with deep conceptual questions. Funded by the John Templeton Foundation, the program aims to foster a new generation of versatile scientists working at the cutting edge of fundamental physics, quantum mechanics, astronomy, cosmology, and complexity science.
What Does the Fellowship Offer?
Each Enrico Fermi Fellow will receive:
- Up to EUR 105,000 per year in funding
- Flexible start date between April 2026 and January 2027
- Fellowship duration of 1 to 2 years (with the rare possibility of extension to 3 years)
- Travel allowance for scientific visits, conferences, and collaboration
- Research support for the fellow’s supervisor
- Access to professional mentoring, cohort-building events, and networking activities
